OK, something weird happened this morning. I monitored between 14:38 and 15:31 this morning. There seemed to be a lot of local splatter....more so than average. For example 600 CKBD Vancouver was particularly bad. Nonetheless,
conditions looked very promising with audio on 558, 567, 585, 594, 603, and 612. As I went up the band, all of a sudden I started hearing what I'm sure is a lot of atmospheric noise ....that white noise in the background. I'm pretty sure it
wasn't anything local, but I'll await for my partners in crime observations before that suspicion is confirmed. This made life difficult as I went up the dial. A total of 17 audios, including Malaysia today on 1475. I was fully expecting a repeat
of yesterday morning as I started but no such luck! Darn.
I did, however find the culprit of some switching noises around 531 I've had to contend with for the entire season. A lightbulb moment! I unplugged my Dell laptop power supply and indeed, it was it that was causing the typical noise from a
power supply. I didn't think it ever caused me trouble when I first received the laptop over a year ago. Wonder if these things deteriorate or not. My modem power supply did the same thing, but luckily it's 12v, so I just exchanged it for one
of my regulated power supplies to solve that problem.
The A/K indices were 0/0 when I started, but now I see they're 0/1, so perhaps something's going on. ...........Walt.
