I DXed from 90 minutes before dawn and essentially heard what Walt
Salmaniw just reported.... BUT, I see it as quite different from the
AMs experienced during September and October. First, there was
little to no increase in strength (taken as a whole) in the 45
minutes or so of supposed dawn enhancement over that of 60 to 90
minutes earlier. Secondly, what did show in audio was almost
exclusively the "first tier" of JJ, KK and CC Big Guns.... and not
all of them, either. A awful lot of "third tier stuff" that I was
hearing in decent audio in September and October from those same
countries was missing entirely, even as weak hets. Thirdly, except
for a less than a handful of the real regulars, TPs were largely
absent above 1098. So, to me, there continues to be a change from
September/October..... not saying that it won't change back, but
still, a qualitative change.
That being said, the JJ Big Guns were doing better this AM than in
the past week or so. At some point 747 ( early), 774 (mid) and 828
(late) were more-or-less local in quality. On 873, Kumamoto was very
weak and the new North Korean is having trouble, again.... growling
away. I had local-like audio from Russia on 153, 189 and 279, the
best in several weeks and 612 seemed like a DU for me, too... in
threshold audio.
Well, I've got 5 more dawns to celebrate before we head back to
Oklahoma for the winter.... darn it!
