Strange you should ask that. About 150 miles. No it wasn't WTXY-1540.
Way too weak.
Very unlikely, but possible: WLWL-770 Rockingham, NC tuned an old
tube transmitter on the crystal second harmonic to do a quick check
while WLWL was on the air. A simple filter would do.
But still WAY too strong. At that distance, they'd have to be 25 kW or
so. I don't so.
