Out here our powerlines are underground so the noise level is low,
except for the electric fence, but the R8 is a fantastic receiver for
foreign splits, ECSS, and it has a great noise blanker, so I really
don't miss the SP 600 all that much.
But I doubt many would pay $1000 for a noise blanker. When I paid $150
for the noise blanker board for the SPR4, some thought I was crazy. The
NB board for the SPR4 in 1971 was over $100 at that time. I fiqured in
todays world the $150 was not bad, as they are rare to find too.
