James Niven writes: Ok John, What's this girl's barrel race??
Three barrels are placed at the far end of the dirt surface of the rodeo arena, the middle barrel a little farther out that the two on either side. The competition features female riders on their horses racing against the time clock maneuvering around each of the three barrels and returning to the starting point. It generally takes somewhere between 18 and 22 seconds to get around the three barrels, but there's a certain amount of skill for both horse and rider in making short, sharp turns without knocking over the barrels.
If the description of the race sounds exciting, think how exhilarating listening to it on the radio would be.
