For those not familiar with the white noise on the frequencies adjacent to
a carrier running IBOC, check out the below web page for some illustrative

Recordings #5 and #9 demonstrate that IBOC hiss can be heard quite far even
in the daytime. The latter recording was obtained from a QTH (Wilmington,
DE) located a little over 100 miles from the WOR transmitter.
