VALDOSTA
Ira Elbert New Jr.
Ira Elbert New Jr. , 77, of Valdosta died Sunday, April 23, 2006, at South
Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on Jan. 7,
1929, in Cook County to the late Ira Elbert New, Sr. and Thelma Mae Sutton
New. Mr. New was a retired chemist with Owens-Illinois for more than 30
years and was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Korean
Conflict. He was a member of Westview Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Lou Howell New of Valdosta; his three
children and their spouses, Andy and Kay New of Barney, Amy and Dan
Donathan of Valdosta, Bert and Erin New of Watkinsville; five
grandchildren, Jennifer New, Daniel Donathan, Jr., LeeLa Donathan, Kali
Donathan and Sara New; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Albertson, Haylee
Bodiford and Drew Radcliff.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006 in the
chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Houseal and the Rev.
Stephen Norris officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday
from 2:30 p.m- 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the
Humane Society, P. O. Box 5323, Valdosta, GA 31603. Condolences to the
family may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com. ?
