My old local from the 1970's. I remember a couple of times
I had to telephone them after sign-off when they would
dump the carrier but leave the exciter on, and that was
loud enough to cover 1525 Xinjiang, China which would
sometimes be heard at sunset. I told them I was trying to
"hear another out of town station" which was true. They
would say "Oh, WKBW Buffalo" and I never argued
with them, as I could tune in 'KB after China (superpower
Russian lang. FS beamed at Moskva) was gone for the day.
I only did this, perhaps twice, when 1525 was showing,
which was nowhere near a daily occurrence. even in the
winter, mainly around 1973-1974..
WTHE is a seldom reported station and a nice catch. I am
not sure who they are programming for at that time of day.
Barry, good HD stuff on B/C. Steve Davis should hire you.
