WPBI 960 North Palm Beach, FL, is on again for the second consecutive day
with the same small selection of music at 12:56 pm ET, Mar 17
2006. Periodically announcing also with a canned message, "WPBI North Palm
Beach conducting equipment tests."
This second day of testing is after a period of silence since a one day
test with same music and announcement on 2/27. Prior to that there had
been occasional periods with an open carrier.
As yesterday, the signal is moderate with local QRM. What I suspect to be
a single, short, repeating music selection soon makes IDing the station
easy without call letters.
The FCC DB lists 1.2kW directional days, 0.25kW non-d nights. The daytime
2 tower theoretical antenna pattern is a cardioid centered toward the NW,
side lobes to the north and west, and a null to the southeast, which seems
consistent with the signal received here to the south.
WPBI was still on last night past the 6:30 local sunset power
decrease. Just how long they stayed on is not known as they faded into the
collected muddle eventually.
