[IRCA] Podcasts

I have been working a lot on Podcasts for one client. As part of the
effort, I have set up a system to record files in MP3 format in 15 minute
segments. These are then uploaded to a web site, and an RSS (Real Simple
Syndication) file is sent along with it. All automatic and unattended.

People with Podcast readers can then very simply update their iPod and
download the files into it.

I'm thinking the application would be useful for DXing. If I were to set up
a receiver on some desired frequency, the system would grap the files and
automatically upload them to the web site. Interested DXers could then grab
the files in a simple fashion for later listening.

In May I will begin my third year of the Alaska listening project. I will
probably set the whole system to grab the audio file and upload it.

And, DX tests could be checked this way. It would be a great way to see if
the test is being heard somewhere else. I'll leave the issue of bogus
reports for others to debate.

How about setting the frequency per request? It's simple to set up a Total
Recorder session to fire off at different times, and the R8B can hop
frequncies and modes according to time of day.

Thoughts?
