Paul,
I've been to lots of different areas in the
USA. Your photo looks like it was taken at a higher altitude.
Possibly Nevada/California border. Looks like it could be in the Lake
Tahoe area. First thing I thought when I saw it was Highway 395 between
Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.
I'm sure I'm way off though.
