Re: [IRCA] XETRA! XETRA!

Pat,

I agree, the station has almost certainly not changed calls.  They just changed their recorded Spanish announcement from the call letters "XETRA" to the slogan "XTRA".  There already is a station called XERA (I'm away from my database but I think it's in Chiapas if I recall correctly) so I'm betting that Bob just heard one of the "XTRA" slogans in Spanish and thought he heard "XERA".

Tim,

I wonder "if" the station has changed calls at all. Because I believe
that the "XE" calls are legal ones, not just an XTRA. I wonder if XTRA
is just a slogan as in "Extra". With stations South of the border, you
never really know for sure. But has the station legally changed calls or
not?
