I guess it's the wobbler I'm hearing ... for the first time ... here 35
miles north of Dallas-Fort Worth. But I had expected something a little less
erratic. When I tuned to 1100 at 2225, what I was hearing was strong and
dominant over WTAM ... and what I heard sounded a little like rapid running back
and forth of a long-play record, like the rap singers do, varying in pitch,
perhaps a full octave or more from low note to high note. But I'm also hearing a
second, lower pitched wobbling sound, sort of bubbling under the dominant,
higher waving wobbler. As far as other audio is concerned, I'm getting only a
slight bit of Latin music, not enough to tell whether it's the Cuban or one of
the Mexicans. (When the Latin signal comes up, though, what I take to be the
wobbler is down. I tried Monday night, found nothing, but it's there tonight. At
times, it sounds a bit like "The Singing Dogs," on "Jingle Bells," (a bit
squeakier) first heard when I was DJ'ing in 1955. Since my technical knowledge
is minimal, I would hesitate to hazard the slightest guess as to what this
is.
Other, that is, than annoying.
