At 12:02am EST (0502Z) 12/11/05 I began hearing test tones from WNTP
990. The test by WFIL on 560 was covered by Miami WQAM 560.
The following on 990 are as logged with the NRD-535D and phased active
verticals except as noted:
12:08 Sweeping siren like tones higher gradually moving lower -- fairly
apparent despite splatter from 980 WHSR.
12:08 Steady tone -- not clear if it was part of the test.
12:10 Traditional sweep tone low to high -- very obvious. Heard also
with R30 and QX Loop.
12:12 Sweeping siren -- very obvious.
12:13 Traditional sweep tones -- becoming clearer as they proceeded.
12:16 Rapid sweep tones, low to high.
12:17 Traditional sweeps.
12:19 Traditional sweeps, heavy QRN began -- an intermittent problem
ever since hurricane Wilma.
I'll check back and hope the noise abates during some point of the
second half hour of the WNTP test.
