At first it sounded like very relaxed standard Chinese based on my
"initial" absorption or cognition of what similarities exist between
Vietnamese and Mandarin (there are some...)
like the "ugh" and "Chu" sounds and "ang" sounds - BUT there were some
tones more typical of Vietnamese in there - "am's" and "rep's" and one or
two (to my ear) tonal triplets (my wife has a masters degree in
linguistics... we talk...)
Vietnamese is tonally more complex than "the more elegant" Mandarin -- and
this was definitely NOT Cantonese (which has longer vowel sounds...)
My vote (after over 10 listens to Nick's WAV file...)
Is *Vietnamese*.
