While my antennas and receiver were not exactly "on another planet" this morning,  I'm not sure that I could describe the morning here with the superlatives it's earned from others.   Perhaps a bit better than yesterday, but mostly it was quite frustrating, with many channels containing multiple grumbles, and nothing much rising out of murk for long, if at all.  Still a fair number of audios, but mostly sporadic.

A gentle fade down after 1500UT followed a few Japanese and 972/1566, but no enhancement.






pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):


594 JOAK 1443UT

639 CNR1 huge signal at 1430UT, pips, time check, news, but had developed multiple echoes by 1435UT

747 JOIB 1424UT

774 JOUB 1424UT

972 HLCA 1425UT

1566 HLAZ assumed, man in Chinese 1447UT, only briefly at this level





Reasonable audio  at  times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):


558 HLQH, as HLSA, but  domestic splash rather than Chinese QRM

603 HLSA 1429UT //558, but also sometimes buried by a Chinese station

666 JOBK //594 1422UT

675 Vietnam VoV1. woman talking Vietnamese? 1427UT.  By the time VoV1 stream was running , had faded under a Chinese station.    Had properly ID'd at 1359UT with distinctive chimes, but was weaker then, so a bit tentative at this stronger level

693 JOAB English lessons 1424UT, only on west Flag; too much CBU splash on north Flag

738 Taiwan Fisheries //1143 1434UT, plus other?

756 CNR1 //639, peaking at 1400UT with pips, time check etc.

828 JOBB English lessons 1424UT

945 CNR1 //639 & unID, also Chinese,  1450UT

963 CRI man in Russian 1349UT, squeezed out a much weaker //1323

1017 CRI man and woman in Korean //5965 1424UT

1089 CNR6 male ballad, then man in Chinese 1428UT; ID'd using webstream

1098 CNR1 //639 1440UT, but peaked to this only briefly; mostly in the weeds

1287 JOHR 1437UT, "HBC rajio" ID by woman

1422 JORF erratically fading talk in Japanese by man 1437UT


not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 

612 JOLK woman //594 1433UT

621 pop vocal 1432UT.  Anything on 900 was too close to imaginary for a parallel

657 N. Korea man in Korean 1415UT

702 unID China?  1400UT, no pips on hour, but woman in Chinese just after the hour

711 HLKA man in Korean //864 1432UT

819 female operatic singing, assumed N. Korea 1427UT

837 pop vocal, assumed China based on past days 1415UT, and never improved, was echoey by 1431?

711 HLKR man in Korean //711 1432UT

981 CNR1 //639 1431UT, again, a brief peak

1044 female vocal 1427UT, then faded into the normal grumble; perhaps CRI?

1116  unID China 1453UT, man in Chinese, not //CNR5 webstream

1134 KBS man in Korean 1434UT

1143 Taiwan Fisheries //738 1416UT

1242 JOLF woman in Japanese 1434UT

1323 CRI man in Russian 1449UT; no 963 by now




Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) 

783 woman talking, could have been Chinese, but really on the edge of the imaginrary 1438UT

846 a mess; but at 1438UT a man faded up maybe Tagalog??

873 JOGB woman //774  1439UT, briefly out of the mud, and quickly back to argue with other signals

918 woman talking, Chinese intonation 1422UT

1188 JOKP //954 1447UT

1206 choral singing 1424UT

1251 CNR1 //639 1505UT

1503 JOUK //594, messy channel though

1593 CNR1 //639 1436UT


Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

nothing  seemed  to be DU
