[IRCA] TP 24 Oct Victoria version.
Yes, it was nuts; I stand by this morning's assessment. Big signals from unusual stations like 711, 639 etc. Little signals from Lord knows what, but quite a lot of Chinese. The north Flag was really producing today.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):
567 JOIK man in Japanese /594 1428UT
594 JOAK woman in Japanese, temperatures for various cities, Kagoshima 24 degrees etc. 1402UT
639 CNR1 1429UT man in Chinese, pips, time check, into news
747 JOIB English lessons 1405UT
774 JOUB English lessons 1402UT
819 N. Korea female operatic singing 1418UT
828 JOBB English lessons 1416UT
945 CNR1 man in Chinese //639 1424UT
972 HLCA man in Korean,1415UT; still quite readable 1511UT
1287 JOHR two men in Japanese, North Flag better, 1410UT, same as yesterday; still pretty readable 1500UT
1323 CRI woman in Russian //963, best at 1430UT
1566 HLAZ woman in Chinese 1420UT; north Flag
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
603 HLSA woman in Korean //558 1406UT
666 JOBK woman in Japanese //594 1413UT
711 HLKA peaking with piano music after woman in Korean 1430UT; //864
837 Chinese female vocal 1410UT, not parallel later with 1116, so maybe not CNR5
864 HLKR man in Korean 1405UT
873 JOGB English lessons 1401UT
963 CRI woman in Russian //123 1430UT
1098 CNR1 man talking //945 1436UT, murky but strong
1206 Yanbian piano music after man in Korean 1410UT
1575 woman in SE Asian language 1432UT;
1593 CNR1 man in Chinese //945 1418UT
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:
612 JOLK man //594 1429UT
657 N. Korea man in Korean //855 1415UT
702 woman in Chinese 1411UT
738 woman in Korean 1402UT, no parallels, assume HLKG
738 Taiwan Fisheries piano music //1143 1419UT
855 N. Korea man //657 1414UT
945 unID oboe? music when CNR1 faded down 1426UT; a few notes seemed //936 which seems unlikely
954 JOKR man in Japanese 1426UT
but....954 some sort of operatic orchestral music fighting with JOKR 1427UT
981 CNR1 woman //945 1425UT
1044 CRI man in Japanese 1413UT
1116 man in Chinese 1424UT couldn't find any parallels in the recording
1188 JOKP man //594 1408UT
1368 woman in Chinese 1426UT, no idea
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)
531 JOGB woman talking //594 1409UT
585 a mess, man talking Chinese? was dominant 1413UT
621 operatic singing, likely N. Korea, no parallels1429UT
720 N. Korea female operatic singing //855 1425UT; woman in Chinese? there also
756 CNR1 man talking //639 1418UT
873 orchestral music u/JOGB, but nothing parallel. N. Korea? 1401UT
891 JOHK man talking 1408UT //594; didn't amount to much today
918 woman talking sounded more Japanese than Chinese 1435UT
936 brief bit of music 1412UT; a big carrier without much modulation
1017 woman talking, Korean intonation , likely CRI 1405UT
1089 man talking Chinese intonation 1417UT
1143 Taiwan Fisheries jolly piano music //738 1419UT
1224 woman singing not //594 1436UT
1251 CNR1 man in Chinese //639 1420UT
1269 mix of stations, one sounding like Chinese 1432UT
1305 man talking Chinese intonation 1412UT
1377 CNR1 woman talking //1593 1429UT
1458 man and woman talking, no idea, and couldn't guess at language 1431UT
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)
801 846 1008 1026 1035 1053 1107 1125 1134 1179 1197 1215 1242 1296 1314 1341 1359 1386 1503 seemed to be Asian;
nothing seemed to be DU
best wishes,
Nick
