[IRCA] TP 18 Oct Victoria version.
Not quite sure what to make of this morning. Signals were not as strong as yesterday here, lots of carriers with near audio, but not quite making it, and nothing much lasted beyond sunrise. Yet, Chinese on 603 and 702, but not so much on more "regular" channels.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):
567 JOIK NHK1 interlude music, woman in Japanese 1415UT
594 JOAK woman in Japanese 1437UT
747 JOIB English lessons 1417UT, but generally not too good today
774 JOUB English lessons 1431UT, importance of smart phones
828 JOBB English lessons 1415UT
972 HLCA man in Korean 1421UT
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
738 Taiwan Fisheries woman in Chinese 1423UT; ID'd 1425UT //1143
1242 JOLF likely w/ pop music,1437UT
1566 HLAZ man in Japanese 1337UT; didn't get this strong during Chinese program
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:
603 HLSA soft vocal music //558 1417UT
603 unID China woman in Chinese 1419UT
612 4QR elderly woman on phone DU English 1426UT
657 operatic female vocal, likely N. Korea 1353UT
666 JOBK woman in Japanese //594 1416UT
702 unID rock music at 1427UT, mixing with unID Chinese talk by woman
873 JOGB English lessons 1417UT
945 CNR1 1430UT woman in Chinese, //639 a few minutes later, and 981 earlier
1287 JOHR man in Japanese 1413UT
1575 VoA ID by man and Yankee Doodle 1530UT,north Flag
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)
558 HLQH female ballad //603 1417UT
621 sounded like Chinese talk by woman at 1421UT, ballad 1424UT; points to Heilongjiang?
639 CNR1 man talking 1435UT //945
639 JOIP woman talking //594 1352UT
864 man talking, too messy to guess at language, conditions pointed to Asia
954 man and woman talking, Japanese intonation
981 CNR1 man talking, echoey //945 1425UT
1098 man talking, Chinese intonation 1417UT
1143 Taiwan Fisheries woman talking //738 1425UT
1323 woman talking, maybe Russian? 1413UT, no //
1503 JOUK woman talking //594 1437UT
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)
837 855 936 1035 1134 1179 1269 1314 1386 seemed to be Asian;
1494 seemed to be DU
best wishes,
