Has anyone considered using a decade box ? 
Put it in a tupperware box & if you want you can reset it 
real quick & accurately..........
Sould be lots of them out there cheap.
Or make it yourself.
As far as the cows go hang a " caution electric fence " sign
on the wire that will keep them away.
Unfortunately our deer cant read so my bev suffers from breaks...........
