Re: [IRCA] Terminating Resistor and EWE misc

Doug,

Here on the coast, I changed over to #13 copperclad insulated wire I
bought from The Wire Man back East. I am using #13 for the SW EWE. The
stuff is tough as nails and with our salt air and wind, I fiqured it
would last longer. In Albany, you probably don't need anything quite so
tough. For years I just used #12 or #14 insulated solid house wiring.
Inexpensive and it pretty tough. I still have #12 for 2/3 of my Eastern
beverage and for the WNW EWE I recently put up, but it only runs 55
feet. The SW EWE runs 100 feet between the vertical sections.
The matching transformers I installed in plastic pill bottles. They
can be sealed up and are inexpensive and durible. I have even had the
cows crew on them. hi. I use the pill bottle for both the matching
transformers and the controls.
Putting up a EWE is pretty easy. Except for replacing the old coax I
had in the ground, the WNW one took me about an 1/2 hour to put up. It
is in the backyard and and I was able to run an extention cord out
easily to solder the connections easily. I have a little Butane pencil
but it is hard to use when it is windy.

Patrick
