846-Kiribati does indeed run a open carrier overnight.On the SSB-equipped CC Skywave it has a huge carrier around 1100, but that doesn't stop Radio Veritas from showing up in its null.

It certainly seems that way, judging by a strong
signal on 846 and lack of programming before sunrise here on the west coast..
Possibly that's a good idea to keep the tropical
rot at bay, but it must add a substantial hit to their electricity bill.
