I started dx'ing when I was 11yrs.old in 1963 using an old hallicrafters
s-38e. began with sw and recall getting my first qsl from HCJB "voice of the
andes". Did not find
Sw very interesting due to being overshadowed by my big bro. and his buddy
who still lives down the street and still dx's! they dx'd in the late '50's
when MW was quiet with
Relatively few stations. i logged about a 100 stations, notably kfi, and
ksl. Also a couple of 1kw stations in the west. By 1966 I discovered girls
and the radio, now a knight r-100a went silent. Sold it for a 1968 sony
8-track recorder. I did not return to the hobby until I built my house in
2006. Bought a drake r8a and started dx'ing once more. My Logs are ho-hum
mainly due to my lazy attitude. Still love the hobby especially in the
summer, dreaming of the upcoming dx season. But.... something always gets
in the way! I have 1st class equip. but there is no substitute for time at
the dials!! My current shack is surrounded by glass and I can see WANB-1210
out my window.

Russ,
For me, I started out DXing SW when I was a teen living in Australia on June
29 1975, my first logging was Radio Nederland broadcasting to the Pacific
region with the "Happy Station", then followed by Radio Canada
International.
Later in 1975, I was sharing pretty much equal time between SW and Broadcast
Dxing.
Now a days, it's pretty much Broadcast DXing, more of a challenge ....

Mostly this is aimed at folks here who've been DX'ing for many years.
How many here either started out DX'ing SW or have done so along with BCB
over the years ?
I started with BCB as a child, and dabbled in SW in my late teens and early
twenties, then went back to BCB because to me at the time it was too easy to
log multiple countries in a fairly short period of time as compared to BCB.
