Re: [IRCA] Oklahoma TP DX 3/17/17

Thanks again for the detailed TP-DX report from Oklahoma, Richard. Conditions here were fairly good, with the Korean big guns on 972 and 1566 reaching good peaks from 1330-1400. The Japanese on 594, 693, 747 and 828 also managed fair audio, along with 1575-VOA and 1593-CNR1.

In comparison to the smaller broadband loops the FSL is a single-optimized-frequency antenna, often having somewhat of an advantage on extremely weak signals. Even with the basic-design Ultralight radio front ends this single-optimized-frequency advantage can usually make an FSL + ULR combo pretty competitive, especially with an experienced DXer using a decent-sized FSL (as in your case).

Happy St. Patrick Day.

Except for JOUB 774 there wasn't much to hear this morning. It was first heard on the R75 at 1131 GMT with poor strength soon fading away. At 1149 it was fair on the URL and continued to fade in/out until 1215.

There was a strong carrier, nut no audio, on 828 at 1224-1229. Traces were noticed on 702, 747, 873, 1134 and 1566 kHz. It seemed everything vanish a few minutes before sunrise at 1237.

I continue to find listening to medium wave DX difficult on the R75, especially when compared with the URL's, even when using ECSS.
