[IRCA] TP 16 Mar Victoria version

Fairly dead at 1300UT, barring a few squeaks from the low band big guns, but things took off a bit after 1410UT, lasting until around 1430UT. Not a huge number of stations, but some Chinese among them, and fairly erratic.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

774 JOUB end of English lessons 1258UT, never really recovered this level, though could hear traces of sign off music box at 1442UT
828 JOBB Korean lessons 1306UT
1557 Taiwan woman in Chinese, briefly at this level 1417UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

567 JOIK woman in Japanese 1424UT
594 JOAK man in Japanese 1410UT, only briefly at this level
603 HLSA soft vocal music //558 over woman in Chinese? 1423UT
639 CNR1 , man in Chinese, this level 1427UT, erratic peaks; no parallels available, but one low one high pip at 1430UT, sounded like Beijing time check by woman, definite CNR1 news sounder
1287 JOHR man in Japanese 1415UT
1503 JOUK woman in Japanese 1421UT, various times noted //594

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

558 HLQH soft music //603 1423UT;
747 JOIB Korean lessons 1314UT, still audible with music box at 1442UT
1422 "loud" but murky, think there was a woman in Japanese and a man in Chinese on this channel 1416UT 1593 NHK2 woman in American English, sounded very NHK 1419UT, but didn't get a parallel until 1421UT when JOUB faded up enough. Also heard on 1593 was man in Chinese under NHK2, CNR1 assumed.

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

612 JOLK woman talking //594 1428UT
1494 man talking, sounded Chinese? 1416UT
1575 VoA 1430UT, "welcome to Voice of America" by man

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

1134 1242 1314 1323 1359 1386 seemed to be Asian; nothing seemed likely DU?

best wishes,

Nick
