[IRCA] TP 16 Feb Victoria version

Sunrise DX was pretty awful this morning; it was a shock to see how well Richard Allen had done in comparison. However, when I listened to the files from the same time that he listened, conditions were much better, including a tentative Chinese station. Things fell apart between 1400-1430UT. One bright side was that domestic splatter seemed quite suppressed also.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

774 JOUB interlude music, then Chinese lessons 1329-30UT
1566 HLAZ man in Japanese, interlude music, then more talk 1330UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK kombonwa and NHK mentions 1300UT, no pips
747 JOIB English lessons 1257UT
972 HLCA man in Korean, woman agreeeing 1319UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

1287 JOHR woman in Japanese 1345UT, briefly at this level

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

567 JOIK man talking Japanese inflection 1350UT, seemed // to a weaker 594
612 4QR man on phone to man in studio 1443UT, weaker yet by 1447UT, but //702 at that time
702 2BL pop vocal //612 1447UT
738 woman mumbling in a DU English sort of way 1449UT, not //702; 2NR?
873 JOGB man and woman talking after pips //774, intro music to Korean lessons
981 man talking Chinese inflection? 1307UT
1116 man talking, DU English inflection, 4BC?

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

1134 1593 seemed to be Asian; 756 846 882 909 1098 likely DU

best wishes,

Nick
