The larger issues  contributing to fewer / no DX Tests have to do with the
industry itself. The industry isn't as it once was. There's less staff,
more work, no interest on the part of stations today.  Stations on the edge
financially simply can't be interested as it does nothing for them, and
many fit into that category. The FCC and some industry bigwigs have spent
decades de-emphasizing anything but local reception, in terms of
regulations but also increasing the numbers of stations on at any given
time. The items Rick mentioned are part. So are the DX'ers who start
badgering the station within a week after the test about verifications.

The world has changed, and the DX hobby isn't immune.
