[IRCA] TP 20 Dec Victoria version
Sunrise enhancement, there was none; maybe a couple of carriers
increased in strength. Pretty much everything died after 1415UT,
and the bulk of activity (primarily big guns on the lower band) took
place far earlier, 1100-1400UT. The SDR recordings started only at
1257UT, so a couple of highlights will be plucked from that period.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
1566 HLAZ man in Chinese after choral music, ignoring the pattern
change, 1351-4UT, then fading down somewhat. This morning's sunrise
enhancement on the Pacific coast was actually Oklahoma
sunrise. There may have been a 3-5dB drop in signal when the Chinese
program started, but further fading up quickly compensated for that,
and then some.
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
972 HLCA woman in Korean 1337UT
1566 HLAZ man in Japanese, O Little Town of Bethlehem carol, 1312UT;
came to this strength again at finish of Japanese program
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
594 JOAK man in Japanese 1401UT
747 JOIB woman in Japanese 1339UT
774 JOUB Chinese lessons 1341UT
828 JOBB English lessons 1412UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
1053 Korean jammer 1337UT
1134 man talking, Japanese inflection 1339UT
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)
846 873 891 981 1044 1098 1242 1287 1593
best wishes,
Nick
