[IRCA] TP 6 Dec Victoria version

That turned out a more interesting morning than might have been gathered from my live listening from 1515UT onward. The opening seemed to start closer to 1430UT, and though not spectacular, had considerable audio at times from both DU and Asia. As Nigel observed, at least the American domestics seemed subdued as well.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK man in Japanese 1435UT, 10dB over 590's strength
702 2BL pips and fanfare on hour, and continued to fade up for news peaking 1502UT
747 JOIB English lessons 1520UT, up to 10dB stronger than 740 and 750 domestics
774 JOUB man in Japanese 1456UT, woman talking far underneath was //612, so 3LO

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

828 JOBB man in Japanese 1438UT
972 HLCA man in Korean 1509UT
1116 man in DU English, very readable at peaks 1519UT presumed 4BC

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

954 JOKR woman in Japanese 1458UT, two and one pips on hour as it faded down
1575 VoA? man talking SE Asian language 1552UT, peaked quickly and faded down

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

567 JOIK woman talking //594 1553UT
837 JOQK man and woman talking //594 1439UT
855 4QO/4QB woman mumbling //612 1449UT
945 woman talking, Chinese inflection 1502UT
1107 weak and murky, but music plus man talking insistently in the Chinese style 1456UT 1566 man mumbling 1717UT. Did have a better peak around 1550UT (and not before), but this seemed to be the last gasp
1593 man talking Chinese inflection 1553UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) lots of near audio here

675 738 819 846 882 891 1017 1098 1287 1323

best wishes,

Nick
