[IRCA] TP 19 Nov Victoria version
The real Asiatic opening this morning spread over a fairly long time
period with quite good levels from about 1100-1130UT then falling
back slightly with erratic peaks through to 1300UT, then mostly low
band big guns to 1330UT, when things started to fade through to about
1500UT. There was a near sunrise enhancement to weak levels after
1500UT which mostly faded away by 1520UT. Off I went to have
breakfast, but kept an eye on the DX Fishbarrel which started to
liven up considerably on the upper band around 1530UT, with quite a
nice final opening for about 15 minutes. Breakfast had to wait
while listening resumed.
Again I'll place the earlier enhancement in parentheses. 972 and
1566 were almost certainly there during the earlier time period, but
it appears I just ignored them.
..
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
(774 JOUB man in Japanese, pips 1059-1100UT)
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
(594 JOAK man in Japanese, this strength both 1100 and 1300UT)
(747 JOIB English lessons 1316UT //774)
(828 JOBB man and woman talking //774 1058UT)
(1287 JOHR man in Japanese 1100UT)
1566 HLAZ woman in Chinese, various bits of music 1529-41UT; this
apparently delivered audio level strength at 1643UT, but was no
longer recording anything but signal strength by then
1593 NHK2 music box s/off peaking at this level 1543UT, some
interference from CNR1
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
(738 assumed Tahiti "Midnight Hour" 1300-01UT)
(1053 Korean jammer 1059UT)
1386 NHK2 man in Japanese 1536UT //1593 and 747
1422 woman talking 1533UT, too much splash for language guess
1503 JOUK woman talking Japanese into female operatic vocal //594
1557 Taiwan? woman in Chinese 1540UT
1575 VoA assumed 1539UT man in SE Asian language
1593 CNR1 woman and man in Chinese //6125, mixing with NHK2, 1541UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
(567 JOIK man talking //594 1302UT)
(603 relaxed vocal music 1304UT)
747 JOIB man in Japanese //1386 1538UT
(945 man and woman talking, 1057UT, Chinese inflection)
(954 JOKR likely, two and one pips at 1300UT)
(981 man and woman talking, Chiese inflection 1309UT)
(1017 CRI traces of chimes and fanfare 1300UT)
(1134 pop music 1102UT)
(1143 man talking, but also another station with woman talking 1102UT)
(1206 woman talking then vocal music for a short period 1424UT)
1494 unID man talking 1537-9UT, no ideas
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter) lots of near audio here
558 756 792 846 891 1044 1098 1179 1242 1278 1323 1332 1404 1458
best wishes,
Nick
