Yes - there is variance. See the link below which shows 4 different
measurements of K. For your paths, planetary, although it's an estimated
number, is probably just as applicable but once it stays above 5 for 12
hours or more, the difference between one 3 hour measurement of 5 vs is
probably not meaningful - the damage is done regardless. Predictions look
like tomorrow will also be bad as there are two different coronal holes.
