[IRCA] TP 23 Oct Victoria version

An interesting morning to say the least. It was shaping up as a rollicking Asiatic morning until just after 1230UT. From 1233-1235UT, JOUB-774 went from thunderous to squeaking, and was gone by 1240UT and never really recovered, though JOIB-747 did get back to its earlier level after 1400UT, but outside of HLCA-972, no other Asians really did.

Poked around in earlier recordings as well to find evidence of a couple of Pacific islanders too.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

612 4QR man DU English 1412UT, briefly this level
747 JOIB man in Japanese then woman singing a capella //774 which was much weaker; returned to this level 1412UT, but with an Aussie underneath
774 JOUB man talking in Japanese, mostly stronger than 770, 1128UT
972 HLCA men in Korean 1128UT, also 1230UT, then faded down shortly thereafter. A reprise at 1351UT at this strength

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 3WV man talking //612
594 JOAK man in Japanese 1000UT, not heard later
792 jazz instrumental, 1421UT, no parallels, likely 4RN

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

567 woman DU English 1306UT, "mostly cloudy" etc. NZ?
576 man and woman in DU English, assumed 2RN
621 Tuvalu assumed, man in island language 0759UT, after ballad with woman talking over it. 702 long vocal lines by woman, not //NHK2 or anything else at 1234UT. At 1338UT, 2BL man in DU English, leading 612 slightly
963 CRI woman in Russian 1128UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

549 2CR man talking //612 1421UT
558 laid back vocal music 1421UT, woman talking 1423UT seemed different station
657 Star. laid back vocals //909 1332UT
747 4QS man talking way under JOIB, //612 1412UT
756 RNZ National. man talking //675 which was mashed by splatter 1352UT
774 3LO man mumbling //702 slight offset 1256UT, pips and fanfare on hour.
909 Star. as //657 1332UT
981 brief break in 980 splash, woman sounding Chinese 1001UT; 1132UT, man in Chinese?
1098 man talking, unreadable in splash, 1000UT (Marshalls?)
1215 woman mumbling 1128UT, Chinese inflection?

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) lots of near audio here

666 819 846 855 918 1017 1143 1179 1188 1251 1323

best wishes,

Nick
