Re: [IRCA] Little Story about 1480 KVNR Santa Ana

The station, when I was PD and OM, was in a building that looked like a
clapboard house, and had been substantially remodeled in the late 80's.
Inside, it was pleasant, if not luxurious. At the time, there was a Bauer
transmitter, famous because it was built form a kit! That was the auxiliary,
of course. The technical equipment was pretty good, though. PE boards, good
gear and processing. Format while I was there was Spanish AC.

Hi All,
KWIZ...T'was perhaps the beginning of my DX hobby. That station was my first

recollection of radio and it caught my interest. Of course, I must count my
older brother input for hearing WLS. He ran out of his room yelling that he
heard it, hi,- this being right after our train trip to Illinois. The KVOE
calls and what they stood for are interesting, so is the fact that they're
still on first street. It looked pretty dumpy last time I saw it in the
early 80's.
