[IRCA] DX Conditions 10/21

Greetings,

DX conditions this morning started off like a bang. The dial was alive
when I got up at 1320 UTC. I even had Thai on 531 //891. Yes, it was
Thailand I heard there the other morning . // with a gal in Thai on 891
alright. I had theshold audio on 164 with a man talking, but I could not
tell much. I would guess Mongolia. The CC, CNR 1  639 was armchair copy.
But it all changed about 1330 or so. The band died. I checked my EWE
antenna on domestics to make sure nothing had happened to it. But it was
fine. I went back and where the Thai lady on 531, by 1330 or so, I was
hearing 2PM Australia with over night C&W, then shortly after that is
was all JOQG rather poorly the rest of the morning. With a A & K so low,
I fiqured I would have good DX until after 1500 UTC, but not at all. I
wonder what the current numbers are? A solar flare or something? I
turned the radio off by 1445. Except for my Thai on 531, nothing new was
logged. All that was left by 1400 were the powerhouse JJ and KK, a
couple CC (936 & 963), and a few regional JJs very poorly. HLAZ 1566 and
VOA 1575 were still there. If I knew the band was going to die like
that, I would have gotten up earlier. A disappointment, but there is
always tomorrow.
