Joel Chandler harris died in 1908 at 60 years old. He worked as an author 
and a typesetter  for several newspapers in the united states. He's famous 
for his stories with the character "Uncle Remus"

Alice Malsenior Walker was born February 9, 1944, the eigth and youngest 
child. When she was only 8 years old, she lost sight in her right eye when 
one of her brothers accidentally shot her with a BB gun. She is a Pulitzer 
prize winning author.

That novel she wrote? The Color Purple!
