Re: [IRCA] Broadband noise - (Getting rid of it)

Maybe this is a bit late for me to be asking, but on Monday, my electrician
is coming out to upgrade my service line and panel. Is there anything I
should ask for besides deeper, longer ground rods? Noise has not been an
issue in the five years I've lived here. The only problems I encounter are
booku images from the cluster of Entercom stations about a half-mile away,
but obviously that's not related to the power lines.

Bob,

Since the power company replaced the power box and put in 2 new 8 foot
ground rods, my noise from the neighbors light dimmer is way down anyway. I
can still hear it a bit on the bottom part of the band on the
R8 in the morning when he gets up after 0700 PDT or shortly thereafter, but
it is not an issue. It was much worse in the past. My one old ground rod was
pretty much useless when they dug up the utillities. It was there for 40
years I would guess. I am sure if they replaced all of the power boxes
around here the noise level would even drop more, but I doubt they will do
that anytime soon. Mine was pretty rusrty, so they considered it a fire
hazard. It did not cost me anything though. But the noise is down.
