DRM is already being tested on SW by Radio Canada International at their
Sackville, NB relay site; using 70 kW, they take up 30 kHz of spectrum space.
For instance, when they use 9800 kHz in the late afternoon/early evening period
in the U.S., the 9785-9815 kHz portion of spectrum is useless. It also cannot be
decoded by today's receivers.
DRM may not be the answer to the woes of AM and LW in Europe, but rather,
massive promotion showing the advantages AM and LW have in signal coverage over
FM and all digital modes.
