While the past 10 weeks have been generally good for pre-sunrise LF Pacific
reception, this morning was exceptional, with enhanced propagation toward
New Zealand. I heard 5 NZL beacons, with 4 of them being first-timers,
between 1200-1245 utc. Hawaii was also at unusual level. Other Pacifics
heard this morning included Polynesia, Samoa, Micronesia, Cook Islands and
Australia. The previous morning favored more to the north, with Japan and
many Alaskan beacons heard; the LWBC Far East Russians were at exceptional
level around 1150-1200 utc (Radio Rossii).
Just a reminder for you West Coast DXers to get up a little earlier than
usual during the summer months and check for Pacific stations.
