It's official; the St. Louis Cardinals baseball flagship will be moving
from KMOX 1120, where these games have been since 1954, to KTRS 550. The
Cardinals will also buy a 50% interest in KTRS, which is currently owned by The
Dorsey Group of St. Louis, MO. The plan also includes moving the studios from
West Port Plaza in Maryland Heights, where they've been since 1998 (the former
WKBQ/WKKX studios) to a new facility in downtown St. Louis, to be located in the
Ballpark Village development which will begin construction next year.
To fill in gaps in KTRS' coverage in the Metro East, WSMI-FM 106.1
Litchfield, IL will become an affiliate of the Cardinals network beginning next
season. This could also fuel rumors of a format change at KMOX.
