There's one non-polluting, higher-caliber product that's been on the market
for over two decades, Compatible Quadrature Amplitude Modulation Stereo
(C-QUAM), still in use at 400 AM stations nationwide. This can put FM-quality
sound with near-CD separation within the 20 kHz bandwidth allowed for AM.
