I'm really disappointed but it sounds absolutely fabulous on well engineered
stations. The AM audio quality is a huge improvement. Something I didn't
mention is that the build quality seems better. I just tried something else
that the new one flunked. I went to 1290 (a local; 122 watts nondirectional
at night and only a mile away) and went into the wide band position. I get
both 1290 and 1340 (also a local with 650 watts nondirectional from the same
tower). With the 1993 version I get only 1290. Between IBOC, two computers
in my apartment and living in a very large apartment complex DX'ing indoors
is pretty much impossible any more. I'll bring both SR III's to the
convention to see what happens in the big city. I'm considering bringing
some other radios that people may have not seen such as the Realistic TRF. I
may bring a Superadio I and II and we can have a Superadio shootout.
