I still have a tough time believing that IBOC is going to stick. I don't
see thousands of AM stations agreeing to leave the air. If I had a
station and a big IBOCer was ruining my livlihood, would I stand by and
watch my business go down the tubes? I know I wouldn't. And thousands of
others would not. I see this tied up in the courts for years if it
sticks. Then as mentioned before, we have the situation of the public
buying into this. Right now, less that 15% of the public listen to AM
regularly. I don't see people rushing out to buy an IBOC radio. Not at
$100, let alone $700+. I don't see the masses buying into HDTV as yet
either. More are buying that because it is TV, but I know of a guy that
just bought a new 32 inch screen and could care less about HDTV.
Brainwashing the public into spending a fortune on a AM/FM radio? I
don't see it. No matter what tactics they use. People want their TV, but
AM radio? There is XM, CDs, other means of entertainment out there. I
know of several people that do not listen to AM or FM radio anymore.
Because there are way too many commercials and gab.
