Re: [IRCA] CAL. DEAD STATION LIST

Bruce,

When you get to it, data is gladly accepted.  The 1440/Spokane morphed into the 1550/Opportunity station, then morphed into darkness.  Also add:

KFHA/1480/Lakewood (59-63) - died as KOOD (1971-73)
KGIB/1540/Bremerton (50) - died in 1958-59
KGWB/1600/West Richland (84) - died as KZUN (88-90)
KJSM/1520-Sequim (84-86) - died in 1988-90
KREN/1420/Renton (59-66) - died in 1968-71
KTNT/1400/Tacoma (48) - died as KPMA (84-86)
KVAN/910/Vancouver (39) - died as KISN (75-79)

Washington is much more stable than California, and I guess you can take that one any way your mind wants to at the time.  By the way, I left out any pre-WW2 activity.  If you were going from memory, you know Washington radio pretty well!

Here's a (partial?) list of dead Washington stations. These are stations that went dark and never returned.  Frequency and location changes are not included.  This list is from personal memory and only goes back to the 1960s

1340 KAPA Raymond, since early 70s?

1360 KFDR Grand Coulee (license was revoked or surrendered after the owner burned it down in the mid 70s)

1380 Spokane, calls included KPEG KEZE and probably a couple of others, went dark circa 1980

1440 Spokane, calls included KDNC, KXXR, & maybe others.  Dark since some time in the 1970s

1510 Mountlake Terrace (near Seattle), came on as KURB in 1968, went dark as KKNW in late 1980s(?)

1550 Opportunity (near Spokane), dark since early 90s?

1590 Mead KLFF, dark since 1960s(?)

My log is in my other computer, so the call info is going from memory, as are the rather sketchy dates.  Bill Harms or Stan Weisbeck might be able to fill in the Spokane info.  For some reason most of the casualties are at the upper end of the dial in the Spokane area.
