[IRCA] Re: [DXFlorida] Wobbler Xtreme on 930

Paul,

You make some interesting points, but I do hear the Wobbler day and night, on a half dozen different frequencies all associated with Cuban stations. Three of which so far, I have DF'ed in the direction of Cuban stations on 930, 620, and tentatively 820.

The signal is not always there, and when it is, not always obvious, but using the tuning technique I've mentioned here before and as described in detail on the Wobbler web site, it isn't difficult to find it somewhere just about any time...if you're close enough. I'm still learning the looping skills, so chances for error abound.

Read all about the several possibilities that have been suggested and results from efforts to track this thing down on the Wobbler web site.

With the Wobbler there are still times what once seemed apparent, seems to be no longer, but for now at least, it looks to me like bad power and old transmitters that don't like it.

However, the search for certainty goes on.

RIght,

Wobbler bombing in at this qth, obliterating 'Vox Veritas' R. Reloj, and local Imperiali'ta decadent Sarasota station. A thought, wobbler not heard here days while many Cuban stations are. Possibly wobbler from elsewhere? Fired up at night? Low power stations in far flung Cuban provinces? Mention only because so much of Gulag of the Antilles is well heard. 560 QAM, once strong and readable, now a mess due to Rebelde, Ciego de Avila. Rebelde 620 makes it under Tampa Sports-pest waste-o-watts, causing R-388 meter to fluctuate with beat note. R. Sagua la Grande, 1540, is faintly audible right above local WENG, even on the DX-398. See what I mean? Even with Tampa fuego thrower 820, cock the loop just so and grab R. Ciudad Habana. 600 Holguin weak, readable days as is 930 Reloj under local Sarasota, but no trace of wobbler. Will mess around with DF Benmar 555A to see if this is from elsewhere on island.
Am I all wet? Committing Waldensian wobbler heresy? Just plain nuts? Your thoughts?

                                                  Thoughtfully,
