I have the opportunity to purchase a used
Sony ICF-SW55. I'm looking for opinions/
evaluations from those of you who use or
have used this radio.
I've read that the ICF-SW55 is a battery hog,
but so is the DX-398. I use an outboard
battery pack made of D-cells for the DX-398,
so I can most likely do the same for the
ICF-SW55.
Based on your experience, how does the ICF-SW55
compare to the RS DX-398 and Sangean ATS-803A
on LW/MW DXing?
I have an amplified LW/MW/SW loop (my trusty
Radio West Ferrite Loop). Will using the loop
with the ICF-SW55 cause overload problems?
What about sensitivity and selectivity?
Well, I guess I could drone on and on ...
Thanks for your inputs!
