Logged the following NDB beacons while on a family
trip to NW Louisiana. All were heard on 28 Dec 2004
using a Radio Shack DX-399:
206 GLS Galveston, TX (2000 watts)
230 SH Shreveport, LA (400 watts)
272 MMY Many, LA (25 watts)
284 VIV Vivian, LA (25 watts)
332 RPF Carthage, TX (25 watts)
375 SPH Springhill, LA (25 watts)
407 IE Campti (Natchitoches), LA (25 watts)
414 MSD Mansfield, LA (25 watts)
The wattages were obtained from the "NavAids" website -
http://www.airnav.com/navaids/
The data for "SH" was obtained from Rocker's page -
http://www.datasync.com/~rocker/longwave.html
I knew SH was on 230 kHz because I grew up in Bossier
City, LA. My high school physics teacher had a Bendix
MN26-C (I think that was the model) on his desk that he
let us listen to before and after school. That was back
in 1970.
73 and GOOD DX,
