Re: [IRCA] 1460 KUTI

Don,

I just moved over here from Manteca, and that 20 mile distance yielded drasticaly different results as well.  1460 is usually messy, so I had to really work to get KABL/KION before and after the call change.  KCKX had disappeared for a while, but is now back again.  I usually only get KFAX on 1100 with mild background mumble from Bakersfield, but got KNZZ last night, and managed to pull out WTAM a month or so ago.  KCPW is in Tooele UT, and is either new or had been silent.  They were coming in very clearly at 3:50pm yesterday.  Of course, it helps that KIQI is fading into the sunset by then, being replaced by a strong CBR.  On 1050, I can pretty well get rid of KTCT, but the only non-SS under them is KORE.

Just for grins, I turned on the radio a minute ago (3pm PDT), and was getting KNZZ on 1100 at reasonable levels under KFAX, and got a nice ID for KMXA/1090/Aurora CO while nulling XEPRS.  I hope tonight will be another interesting one!

Wow Mike, once again I'm reminded about how a difference of 80 miles or
so can change things so radically. I normally have a weak KABL/KION on
1460 nights altho KCKX & the Baja station will come in from time to
time. I have only caught KUAZ once in the last 4-5 years (at sunset),
have NEVER heard Grand Jct. on 1100 (even when KFAX had silent periods
many many years ago), KCPW? Is that the call change for Tolleson?
Unheard here in 20 years also. Course I have a local on most of these
frequencies which doesn't help very much. KBSN/KELA are probably more
common here than in Tracy & Sacto a poor 3rd or 4th. WHO has become a
real rarity thanks mostly to KTCTs main lobe. I can get Vancouver
nicely but try to loop E/W and bam all KTCT. I don't get KINF either
and KWIQ is very rare. CFAX makes it here on occasions also & yes I've
noticed KRKO pushing Sacto around brutally of late. Unfortunately
nothing very exciting especially since Soquel on 1200 was only off one
night (not forever)........73 don k
