Speaking of large loops, hi, hi. Mine is cut for 160m, approximately 570' in
a horizontal delta configuration. It isn't directional, per se, but I do use
an ANC-4 as a phasor with the loop in one input and, believe it or not, my
steel radio shack/garage roof: http://tinyurl.com/6eu7p  as an antenna for
the other input. I am able to phase the roof against the loop and get some
fairly good directionality with the configuration. Now, you apparently are
not able to put up 500+ feet of loop, but perhaps you could come up with
something similar at a different scale. Maybe use a smaller loop as one
input to a phasing unit and another random length of wire for the other
input. Might be worth a try....Sounds like fun :-)
