KXEN 1010 Festus, MO discontinued nighttime use of AM Stereo in April; the station had been broadcasting in AM Stereo at night since 1998. Much of the nighttime music programming is gone, replaced by Christian teaching.
There's been a pair of sales in St. Louis; Simmons Communications of Salt Lake City has acquired KSLG 1380 St. Louis, MO; they're switching networks from Sporting News Radio to ESPN Radio. Big League Broadcasting, which operates "790 The Zone" in Atlanta, has acquired KFNS 590 Wood River, IL/KFNS-FM 100.7 Troy, MO/KRFT 1190 De Soto, MO from local ownership. Unknown is which network, if any, KFNS will replace the ESPN programming with. KRFT 1190 currently carries Fox Sports Radio in St. Louis; two possible scenarios would be: 1) KFNS would take SNR from KSLG, or 2) KFNS would take Fox Sports Radio from KRFT, while KRFT would take SNR.
The rumored change at WEW 770 St. Louis, MO to conservative talk may not take place; the station is still Adult Standards as of 7/1/2004, although more Spanish programming has been added in recent months.
I have been very busy of late with the format change at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's Internet radio station, "Web Radio". The format has been changed from a mix of current and recurrent pop, rock, country and R&B to all-'80s, effective 7/1/2004. Glenn Hauser's shows have survived the format change.
73, Eric (N0UIH)
