I was using my Icom R-75 and a 200 foot wire but was also able to hear it
pretty well on that old Radio Shack TRF I rebuilt using the built in
ferrite antenna. I made an MP3 file from each radio for comparison
purposes. One you might try for also is KLEB 1600 Golden Meadow LA, They
play very recognizable Cajun music and their slogan is "The Ragin' Cajun"
They are in here about 2 or 3 times a week. I wrote the station towards the
end of April to see if they were using their night pattern and power of 250
watts and was told "We did experience some antenna switching problems. You
may have received the station by error.
We are locally owned and locally programmed. I took a chance with the new
format. Its been a winner for the past 5 years".
That last part adds to the argument that it is indeed the programming that
keeps the listeners tuned in...not the audio quality.
