[HCDX] Micro-DXpedition Report

13 December 2008:   Being at the time of year with the earliest sunset, I 
decided to go up to the remote site mainly for Europirates, but also to see 
what else could be heard.  Conditions weren't too bad, even after the recent 
passing of a Coronal hole.  It was very quiet.  And a little (quick) fading.

RX:  JRC NRD-535D
ANT:  315' at 50° Beverage (BOG)
QTH:  Pennsylvania State Game Lands #26
Duration:  1800-2100 UTC
Solar Indices:  Solar Flux = 71, A Index = 2, K Index = 0.  No storms.
WX:  Sunny.  Chilly but comfortable, 22° F. (-5° C.)


TURKMENISTAN  5015  Turkmen R.??  Carrier at 1803.  Extremely weak mx at 
1819.  Gone at 1846 check, but was there after 1830.  (13 Dec.)

TAJIKISTAN  4975  V.O. Russia  Good carrier and a little mx at 1804.  More 
mx at 1812 check, followed by W anncr at 1813.  1827-1829 mx then W again. 
BoH mx bridge, then W continued.  Not strong enough for ID but sounded like 
EG.  1858 partial EG ID by M "This is." and ment of 309 meters along with 
sked.  1859 mx.  1900 M anncr but unreadable.  Went off w/out anmnt at 2000. 
Interesting that Euros would come in before Africans on 60 meters.  But it 
makes sense though with the Euro signals following the terminator closer, 
not to mention that my antenna was aimed at Europe!!   (13 Dec.)

UNID.  6285  UNID.  Noticed a signal here earlier and w/weak mx at 1821.  I 
find this hard to believe that it would be North Korea at this time.  Very 
weak.  (13 Dec.)

60 mb scan:

5050  UNID.  Healthy OC from before 1900 to 2100+.  Never did hear any audio 
and wonder if it might be Tanzania??  Had the 'feel' of an African, like 
Chad or Uganda.  (13 Dec.)

5025  R. Reblede  There the entire time of course.  (13 Dec.)

5010  Madagascara??  Carrier at 1846.  Too weak for audio.  Didn't pay much 
attention to this.  (13 Dec.)

4976  R. Uganda/UBC  Carrier mixing w/4975 V.O. Russia at 1853.  (13 Dec.)

4965  Christian Voice  1840 signal on and strains of music already.  (13 
Dec.)

4930  VOA (Botswana)  Tlk by M at 1841.  (13 Dec.)

4904.97  R. Chad  Carrier at 1842.  Heard very nicely and strong later.  (13 
Dec.)

4880  SW Radio Africa (South Africa)  1843 sounded like tlk by W briefly. 
Mx at 1856.  Not there at 1909 check, corresponding to their sked.  (13 
Dec.)

4860  Just a carrier here at 1843 and 1856 checks.  A stn here??  (13 Dec.)

4845  R. Mauritania  Weak carrier at 1844.  Good later of course.  (13 Dec.)

4780  R. Djibouti  Actually not that bad at 1844 w/M and W in discussion. 
But hammered by CODAR.  (13 Dec.)

4765.05  R. Tajikistan??  Weak carrier only at 1845.  (13 Dec.)

NA PIRATE  6210  WBNY parody stn??  1850 Commander Bunny talking calls and 
kept calling them Bozo.  Rock mx at 1852.  Seemed to be repeating as same 
thing was heard again at 1902.  (13 Dec.)

UNID.  6240.5v  UNID.  Very wobbly carrier w/tlk by M at 2007.  Didn't sound 
like a Pirate.  Huge OC, probably from WYFR, came on 6240 at 2009, but then 
went off.  In the clear at 2013 w/M still speaking.  Lang. almost sounded 
middle-eastern.  Definitely W in FR at 2051.  Obliterated by WYFR at 2056. 
Continually drifting down and was on 6240.2 by WYFR s/on.  R. PMR maybe??
